 Margot Harley, who co-founded The Acting Company with John Houseman in 1972, will step down as its Producer effective the end of this year.  The Acting Company began with the first graduating class of Juilliard's Drama Division, which included Kevin Kline, Patti LuPone, David Schramm and David Ogden Stiers.  "They were classically trained, superbly talented and had worked together for four years," stated Ms. Harley.

Today in 2007, LoveMusik opened at the Biltmore Theatre (now the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre), where it ran for 60 performances. LoveMusik is a musical written by Alfred Uhry, using a selection of music by Kurt Weill. The story explores the romance and lives of Kurt Weill and Lotte Lenya, based on Speak Low (When You Speak Love): The Letters of Kurt Weill and Lotte Lenya. The show was directed by Harold Prince, with musical staging by Patricia Birch and starred Michael Cerveris as Kurt Weill, Donna Murphy as Lotte Lenya, David Pittu as Bertolt Brecht and John Scherer as George Davis.

The only thing more disappointing than a show that completely bombs is one that is astoundingly good in some areas but misses the mark in others. That's exactly the case with The Robber Bridegroom, now playing at the Mary Moody Northen Theatre at St. Edwards University. While the show is visually stunning, the music tuneful and complex, and some performances are wonderful, the show misses many an opportunity to land a joke.

Manhattan Theatre Club's presentation of Steppenwolf Theatre Company's production of Airline Highway, the new play by Pulitzer Prize finalist Lisa D'Amour (Detroit), directed by two-time Tony Award winner Joe Mantello (Casa Valentina, Take Me Out), opened last night, April 23 at MTC's Samuel J. Composer Jason Robert Brown has built quite a catalog of his own songs, having written the music to such Broadway shows as Parade, Honeymoon in Vegas, The Bridges of Madison County, and many more, but now he is branching out into the works of the Piano Man himself. Mary Moody Northen Theatre, the award-winning producing arm of the St. Edward's University theatre training program, concludes its 2014-2015 season with The Robber Bridegroom, based on the novella by Eudora Welty, with book and lyrics by Alfred Uhry and music by Robert Waldman. The show runs tonight, April 16 - 26, 2015.
