Cherry Creek Theatre Company to Present DRIVING MISS DAISY, 6/5-28

By:
When the elderly Miss Daisy has an accident that prevents her from driving her son hires Hoke Colburn, an African-American, to drive her. What starts out as a contentious feud blossoms into a 30-year friendship. Set against the backdrop of racial tensions in the south, this Pulitzer Prize winning tale of the unlikely relationship between an aging, fiercely independent white Southern Jewish lady and a proud, soft-spoken black man is both humorous and heart-warming.

Cherry Creek Theatre Company presents "Driving Miss Daisy" June 5 through 28 at the Shaver-Ramsey Showroom, 2414 East 3rd Ave. Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 6:30 p.m. Single tickets are $34; $29 for seniors/students by calling 303-800-6578 or online at www.cherrycreektheatre.org.

The cast includes Billie McBride (Miss Daisy), Cajardo Lindsey (Hoke Colburn), and Mark Collins (Boolie).

Alfred Uhry won the 1988 Pulitzer Prize for Drama for the play "Driving Miss Daisy" and was nominated for the 1997 Pulitzer Prize for Drama for the play "The Last Night of Ballyhoo". He has twice won Broadway's Tony Award: in 1997 as author of Best Play winner "The Last Night of Ballyhoo" and in 1999 as Best Book (Musical) for "Parade." Uhry was the first playwright to win the Tony, the Oscar and the Pulitzer Prize.

Cherry Creek Theatre Company is the vision of a group of dedicated Cherry Creek North residents, businesses and local theater leaders, who have made it their mission to enhance and enrich the Cherry Creek community by producing a broad range of high quality productions that will be entertaining, educational, enriching and diverse.
