BWW Review: THE MIKVAH PROJECT, Lockdown Theatre Festival BBC Radio 4

In an effort to create a cultural snapshot of these strange times, actor Bertie Carvel has created the BBC's Lockdown Theatre Festival; a radio broadcast of four plays that had their runs cut short by the shutdown. Josh Azouz's beautifully written The Mikvah Project was well-received when it first appeared at the Orange Tree Theatre as part of their Directors' Festival in 2019. In March this year it returned to critical acclaim with a new cast.

Josh Azouz's play The Mikvah Project was a great success when it formed part of the Orange Tree's Directors' Festival last summer. It now returns in excellent form to explore the tentative and problematic relationship between two male characters in the setting of North London Judaism.

Award-winning Michael Rudman directs David Horovitch as Joe Keller and Penny Downie as Kate Keller with Alex Waldmann (Chris Keller), Grace Carter (Lydia Lubey), Edward Harrison (George Deever), William Meredith (Frank Lubey), Alison Pargeter (Sue Bayliss), David Partridge (Jim Bayliss) and Francesca Zoutewelle (Ann Deever). The production opens on 2 November, with previews from 28 October, and runs until 19 November.
