UNIQLO to Sponsor MoMA's Free Friday Night Admission Program

The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) and UNIQLO announced today that UNIQLO, the global clothing retailer, will be the exclusive, multi-year, corporate sponsor of the Museum's Friday night free admission program, which provides free access to the public to the Museum and all exhibitions from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., every Friday, throughout the year.

SPANDEX Opens Off-Broadway 5/10

Beginning Friday May 10th, Spandex, a new musical for ALL SIZES, will begin a limited off-Broadway run at the 777 Theatre, 777 8th Avenue, between 47th and 48th Streets.

The Antaeus Company Opens THE CRUCIBLE, 5/16

The Antaeus Company, L.A.'s multiple award-winning classical theater company, presents an untraditional staging of Arthur Miller's The Crucible. Armin Shimerman and Geoffrey Wade co-direct the fully double cast production May 16 through July 7, with low-priced previews beginning May 9.

Garret Dillahunt, Jake Abel to Star In WWII Thriller GHOSTS OF THE PACIFIC

Garret Dillahunt ('Raising Hope'), Tom Felton (Harry Potter), and Jake Abel (The Host) are set to star in GHOSTS OF THE PACIFIC, the true story of three WWII Navy flyers cast adrift on the South Pacific in 1942. The feature will be produced by The American Film Company, which specializes in making movies based on true stories from America's past.

Target Named Sponsor of School & Teacher Programs for MoMA

The Museum of Modern Art announces that Target is to become the sponsor of Target School and Teacher Programs beginning this May, providing major support of the Museum's mission to engage students and teachers in meaningful experiences with works of art in the Museum's collection and special exhibitions. The sponsorship will support activities such as the School Visit Programs, School Partnership Programs, Art Studios, and K-12 Teacher Workshops and Online Resources.

Elliot Goldenthal Honored by NYFA

The New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) has announced that author and co-director of the Acquavella Gallery Michael Findlay, composer Elliot Goldenthal, filmmaker Mira Nair and visual artist Fred Wilson will be inducted into the NYFA Hall of Fame on Tuesday, April 23rd at Espace (635 West 42nd Street). The evening begins at 6:30 with a cocktail reception featuring interactive art by past and current NYFA grantees, followed by dinner and remarks from all the honorees. Tickets start at $500 and tables at $5,000; tickets for the Young Patrons After party, which begins at 9:30, are $250. Tickets and tables at all levels can be purchased at www.nyfa.org.

Met Music Director James Levine will return to the Met podium for the first time in two years, conducting three operas with which he has long been associated: a new production of Verdi's final masterpiece Falstaff, Mozart's Cosi fan tutte, and Berg's Wozzeck. Met Principal Conductor Fabio Luisi will be conducting two operas in the 2013-14 season, Rossini's La Cenerentola and Puccini's Madama Butterfly.

The Art Institute Presents New Site-Specific Installation by Kara Walker

Critically acclaimed artist Kara Walker has, over the years, pursued the silhouette's implications and transformations in paintings, drawings, collages, shadow puppets, cut steel, film and video animations, and 'magic-lantern' projections. She returns to her signature cut-paper silhouettes in monumental form for a new site-specific, commissioned work titled Rise Up Ye Mighty Race! (2013), created specifically for the Art Institute of Chicago. The room installation--on view from February 21 through August 11, 2013, in Gallery 293 of the Modern Wing--will include five large-framed graphite drawings and 40 small-framed, mixed-media drawings along with the cut paper silhouettes.

Whitesnake Announce 'Made In Japan' Live Album, DVD & Blu-ray

Frontiers Records has announced Whitesnake's highly anticipated live concert 'Made In Japan' will be released on Deluxe 2CD/DVD Edition, Blu-ray and DVD in the UK on Monday April 22 (U.S release is April 23). “Made In Japan” captures the multi-platinum rock band's co-headline performance at the “Loud Park” festival, which took place in Japan's Saitama Super Arena on October 15th 2011.
