The Ballard Institute to Launch 2017 Spring Puppet Forum Series in February

For its 2017 Spring Puppet Forum Series, the Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry at the University of Connecticut will host four free scintillating discussions with puppeteers, animators, designers, producers, and writers on Wednesday evenings at 7 p.m. in February through April at in the Ballard Institute Theater, located at 1 Royce Circle in Storrs Center.

American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) announced today that today, January 19, 2017 at 5:30 p.m.-the eve of the presidential inauguration-it and over 100 theaters and theatrical organizations across the country will launch The Ghostlight Project, a collective, simultaneous action, together creating "light" for challenging times ahead.

Black Ensemble Theater Presents World Premiere of MY BROTHER'S KEEPER—THE STORY OF THE NICHOLAS BROTHERS

Black Ensemble Theater Founder and CEO Jackie Taylor opens the 2017 Season (The Dance Theater Season) with the world premiere musical My Brother's Keeper-The Story of The Nicholas Brothers, written and directed by Black Ensemble Theater Associate Director Rueben Echoles. My Brother's Keeper (The Story of The Nicholas Brothers) will be performed at the Black Ensemble Theater Cultural Center, 4450 N. Clark Street in Chicago, February 11 - March 26, 2017.

WaterTower Theatre Announces Details for the 3rd Annual Women in Theatre Panel

WaterTower Theatre today announced details for the third annual WOMEN IN THEATRE panel discussion.  The event is presented under the auspices of Women of WaterTower Theatre (WOW!) and it is chaired by Jennifer Martinez.  This is the third panel in the series, having already explored the unique perspective of prominent female directors and actors, 2017 will feature The Designers, and it will be held on Monday, February 6, 2017 from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm (with a post-lecture reception in the lobby with the artists). The event will be held in the Canterbury Family Main Stage at the Addison Theatre Centre.  The lecture will be moderated by Dallas arts journalist Lauren Smart, and features Leann Burns, Clare Floyd DeVries, Sylvia Fuhrken Marrs, and Frida Espinosa-Muller.

Elizabeth Enders Opens at Betty Cuningham Gallery

Betty Cuningham Gallery is pleased to open, in Sidecar, an exhibition of new paintings and works on paper by Elizabeth Enders. The artist will be present for an opening reception on Saturday, January 14th and the exhibition will remain on view through Saturday, February 18, 2017.

BWW Review: A CHRISTMAS CAROL, Lyceum Theatre

Despite being a decade-long tradition in New York, Alan Menken and Lynn Ahrens' musical adaptation of A Christmas Carol had never previously been staged in London. Based on Charles Dickens' classic novella, the story we all know and love is brought to life with a thrilling score. This week LMTO brought the musical to the Lyceum Theatre (home of the West End production of The Lion King) for a one-night-only concert staging.
