Photo Coverage: First look at Ohio University Lancaster's ALMOST MAINE
by Jerri Shafer - Feb 26, 2020

Welcome to Almost, Maine, a place that's so far north, it's almost not in the United States. It's almost in Canada. And it's not quite a town, because its residents never got around to getting organized. So it almost doesn't exist. One cold, clear, winter night, as the northern lights hover in the star-filled sky above, the residents of Almost, Maine, find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and hilarious ways. Knees are bruised. Hearts are broken. But the bruises heal, and the hearts mend - almost - in this delightful midwinter night's dream. Ohio University Lancaster Theatre presents “ALMOST, MAINE.” Performances are Thursday, February 27 through Sunday, March 1, 2020 at Ohio University Lancaster in the Wagner Theatre, 1570 Granville Pike, Lancaster, Ohio, 43130. Photo Coverage: First look at Ohio University Lancaster's THE DROWSY CHAPERONE
by Jerri Shafer - Nov 25, 2018

The DROWSY Chaperone is a loving send-up of the Jazz Age musical, featuring one show-stopping song and dance number after another. With the houselights down, a man in a chair appears on stage and puts on his favorite record: the cast recording of a fictitious 1928 musical. The recording comes to life and 'The DROWSY Chaperone' begins as the man in the chair looks on. Mix in two lovers on the eve of their wedding, a bumbling best man, a desperate theatre producer, a not-so-bright hostess, two gangsters posing as pastry chefs, a misguided Don Juan and an intoxicated chaperone, and you have the ingredients for an evening of madcap delight. Rated - PG. SHOWS/DATES: Thursday, November 29 - Sunday, December 2, 2018 ONLINE TICKETS: https://commerce.cashnet.com/oul-theatre

The romantic and comic exploits of Dolly Gallagher-Levi, turn-of-the-century matchmaker and "woman who arranges things," are certain to thrill and entertain audiences again and again. Photo Coverage: First Look at Ohio University Lancaster Theatre's GREASE
by Jerri Shafer - Jul 21, 2017

Here is Rydell High's senior class of 1959: duck-tailed, hot-rodding 'Burger Palace Boys' and their gum-snapping, hip-shaking 'Pink Ladies' in bobby sox and pedal pushers, evoking the look and sound of the 1950s in this rollicking musical. Head 'greaser' Danny Zuko and new (good) girl Sandy Dumbrowski try to relive the high romance of their 'Summer Nights' as the rest of the gang sings and dances its way through such songs as 'Greased Lightnin',' 'It's Raining on Prom Night,' and 'Sandy'. Performances for the Lancaster Festival is on July 23rd at 2:00 & 7:00.  More performances run August 3, 4, 5 at 7:00 and August 5, 6 at 2:00 pm.  For tickets:  (740) 681-3353 or online at:  https://commerce.cashnet.com/oul-theatre.  Ohio University Lancaster - Wagner Theatre, 1570 Granville Pike, Lancaster, Ohio.
