The National Tour of HAIR, which began its limited Broadway run at the St. James Theatre in July, will close on September 10.

On August 31, American Repertory Theatre opened The Gershwins' PORGY AND BESS. Written by Ira Gershwin, George Gershwin, DuBose and Dorothy Heyward, the A.R.T. production features an adaptation by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Suzan-Lori Parks and Obie Award-winning composer Diedre L. Murray. It is directed by A.R.T. Artistic Director Diane Paulus, with choreography by Ronald K. Brown. The show began previews on August 17 and is planning a Broadway transfer this winter. The production is scheduled to begin previews at the Richard Rogers Theatre on December 17, 2011 in anticipation of a January 12, 2012 Broadway opening. A.R.T. American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) will present The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess, opening the A.R.T.'s 2011-2 season tonight, August 17 at the Loeb Drama Center. Monday night marked the 300th performnce for the national tour of HAIR, now performing at Broadways St James Theatre. The Tony Award-winning revival of HAIR kicked of its first national tour at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC on October 28, 2010 (following a preview engagement in New Haven, CT) and played 20 cities around the country before heading back to Broadway for a limited 'Summer of Love' run at the St. James Theatre (246 West 44th Street). New York's Public Theater (Oskar Eustis, Artistic Director) and Joey Parnes have announced that HAIR: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical will once again rock Broadway this evening, following a one-day shuttering this past Saturday due to Hurricane Irene. Tonight's 7:00 PM performance will also mark the national tour's 300th performance. Full casting has been announced for the upcoming national tour of THE ADDAMS FAMILY, a new musical based on the bizarre and beloved family of characters created by legendary cartoonist Charles Addams. Tickets for the Miami premiere at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County will go on sale to Arsht Center members on August 15 and to the general public on August 22, as announced by the Arsht Center and Broadway Across America.

American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) has scheduled two American Sign Language (ASL) interpreted performances and two audio described performances of The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess during the month of September.

From 10 October 2011 Stephen Ashfield (Emmett) and Ben Freeman (Warner), will be joining Carley Stenson (Elle Woods), Natalie Casey (Paulette) and Peter Davison (Professor Callahan) in the Olivier Award winning show Legally Blonde The Musical, which is currently booking until 27 October 2012 at the Savoy Theatre.

New York's Public Theater has announced that the final performances of HAIR: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical on Broadway will all offer special deals and programs for students, Aquarians, foreigners, HAIR fans and more, kicking off on Thursday, August 25th with a foursquare Swarm-In in Times Square, at which fans are encouraged to join the Tribe for a Be-In Performance in Times Square, where they can unlock a special discount if enough people check in via the social networking site foursquare. The show ends its 'Summer of Love' run at the St. James Theatre (246 West 44th Street) on Saturday, September 10th before heading back out on its national tour.

The Broadway production of the hit musical comedy THE ADDAMS FAMILY will end its run at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre (205 West 46th St.) December 31 after 725 performances and 34 previews. Since beginning previews on March 8 2009, THE ADDAMS FAMILY has been seen by more than 748,000 people. Prior to Broadway, THE ADDAMS FAMILY played an 8 week engagement at the Oriental Theatre in Chicago, where it grossed more than $12 million, making it the most successful Broadway tryout in Chicago's history. The national tour of THE ADDAMS FAMILY launches on Sept 15 at the Mahalia Jackson Theatre for the Performing Arts in New Orleans and is booked in more than 30 cities through 2012. Productions of THE ADDAMS FAMILY are set to open in Sao Paulo, Brazil in the spring of 2012 and Sydney, Australia in spring 2013, with several more international productions to be announced soon.
