The Way Off Broadway Dinner Theatre is cutting loose this summer with the dance musical Footloose. The stage production, based on the Paramount Pictures film, opens at the Frederick theatre tonight, June 15th and run through August 25th.
The four member cast will feature Drama Desk Nominee Farah Alvin (The Marvelous Wonderettes) as Pam, Natalie Venetia Belcon (Avenue Q) as Phyllis, John Bolton (A Christmas Story, "Gossip Girl") as Ernie, and Jake Boyd (MCC's Carrie) as Jimmy. The 27th Annual Lucille Lortel Awards were handed out last night, May 6, 2012 at NYU Skirball Center, in a ceremony that once again benefited the Actors Fund and honored the best of Off Broadway. The Off-Broadway League today announced the confirmed performers for the 2012 Lucille Lortel Awards for Outstanding Achievement Off-Broadway. Additionally, the remaining tickets to the show have been released for sale to the public at a discounted rate of $35 each. Unless the names 'Noel' and 'Coward' are involved, I tend to be a bit wary about musicals with the book, music, lyrics and direction all by the same person, but Willard Beckham makes a very entertaining go of it with his campy, country/western musical comedy, Lucky Guy.
