Rep Stage Begins 17th Season With WITTENBERG 8/26-9/13

Rep Stage, the professional Equity theatre in residence at Howard Community College (HCC), begins its 17th season with David Davalos' comedy 'Wittenberg,' directed by Tony Tsendeas, opening August 26 and running through September 13, 2009 in the Smith Theatre of HCC's Horowitz Visual and Performing Arts Center (HVPA).

1st Canadian Astronaut To Fly In Space Set As Centaur's Fundraising Gala Chair

Centaur Theatre Company is pleased to announce that Marc Garneau, first Canadian Astronaut to fly in space and current Member of Parliament for Westmount-Ville-Marie, has graciously accepted to chair this year's annual fundraising Gala, which will take place on Tuesday September 15, 2009.

Academy Of Motion Picture Pays Tribute To Alan & Marilyn Bergman 5/29

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will present a tribute to Oscar®-winning songwriters Alan and Marilyn Bergman on Friday, May 29, at 8 p.m. at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills. Hosted by music producer and composer Quincy Jones, the evening will celebrate the prolific lyricists through film clips, personal remembrances from their colleagues and friends, and live performances of several Oscar-nominated songs.

Rep Stage Continues 16th Season W/ GOD'S EAR 4/1-4/26

Rep Stage, the professional Equity theatre in residence at Howard Community College (HCC), continues its 16th season with the regional premiere of Jenny Schwartz's 'God's Ear,' playing April 1 through April 26, 2009 in the Studio Theatre of HCC. 'God's Ear' focuses on a young couple, Ted and Mel, and how they cope with the loss of their son. Positioned firmly in the center of 'God's Ear' is the concept of language, and how language and expression are used to deal with tragedy and grief. Paul Morella (Ted), Julie-Ann Elliott (Mel) and Lauren Williams (Lanie) star; Helen Hayes Award-winning director Kasi Campbell directs. Restaged & Redesigned CROWNS Comes To Arena Stage 3/27

Crowns is back in town, and with direction and choreography by Kenneth Lee Roberson (Broadway's Avenue Q, Arena's Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill) and musical direction by Grammy nominee e'Marcus Harper, this soulful musical will be bigger than ever in the Lincoln Theatre. Arena favorites Marva Hicks (The Women of Brewster Place) and E. Faye Butler (Dinah Was, Ain't Misbehavin') are joined by NaTasha Yvette Williams (Broadway's The Color Purple), Mary Millben, Kara Tameika Watkins, Phillip Boykin and Zurin Villanueva. Howard University student Villanueva was discovered in Arena's January 'Finding Yolanda' one-day casting search, and this production marks her debut professional performance.

Rep Stage Recieves Two 2009 Helen Hayes Awards Noms

Rep Stage, the professional Equity theatre in residence at Howard Community College (HCC) has been honored with two nominations for the 2009 Helen Hayes Awards: 'Outstanding Lighting Design,' Daniel Covey; and 'The Canadian Embassy Award for Outstanding Ensemble, Resident Play.' Both nominations are for Rep Stage's June 2009 production of Naomi Wallace's 'In the Heart of America.' Rep Stage has been nominated for 39 awards and won seven during its 16-year existence.
