About Face Theatre Announces QUEERTOPIA, Runs 7/15-25

Artistic Director Bonnie Metzgar and Executive Director Jason Held are pleased to announce the world premiere of QUEERTOPIA: The Anti-Violence Project, by Paula Gilovich and the About Face Youth Theatre Ensemble, directed by Sara Kerastas. The press openings are Saturday, July 17 and Sunday, July 18 at 3:00pm at the Center on Halsted (3656 N Halsted).

"MY DOG TULIP," To Premiere at Film Forum on 9/1

MY DOG TULIP, an animated feature film based on the acclaimed best-selling memoir by author J.R. Ackerley, featuring the voices of Christopher Plummer, the late Lynn Redgrave, and Isabella Rossellini, is the first acquisition of the newly reopened New Yorker Films. A bittersweet retrospective account of the author's 14-year relationship with his adopted Alsatian, Tulip, the film will have its world theatrical premiere on September 1, 2010, at Film Forum in New York City, followed by a national release.

Howard County Arts Council Announces Summer Events Schedule

This summer the Arts Council has something for everyone. Beginning June 24, kids can learn and get excited about the visual, literary, and performing arts at Summer Arts Camp '10. Everyone can enjoy a visit to our galleries for the Resident Visual Artists Exhibit 2010 and Contrast & Symmetry in June and HoCo Open 2010 and No Boundaries in July and August. The Hartt School Honors Late Jazz Legend Hank Jones

The jazz world and The Hartt School lost a great musician and friend on Sunday, May 16, 2010, when the legendary Hank Jones passed away. Mr. Jones, an artistic collaborator with and personal friend of Hartt faculty members Steve Davis and Nat Reeves, presented a master class, performed a concert with Hartt faculty and students, and received an honorary degree from the University of Hartford on April 13, 2009. He died in New York City yesterday, at 91 years of age.

Rep Stage Ends Run of Eric Overmyer's 'On the Verge or The Geography of Yearning' 5/2

Rep Stage, the professional Equity theatre in residence at Howard Community College (HCC), will end its production of Eric Overmyer's 'On the Verge or The Geography of Yearning' on May 2nd. Mel Gussow, in his New York Times review of 'On the Verge...' wrote, 'Blending Tom Stoppard's limber linguistics with the historic overview of a Thornton Wilder, Mr. Overmyer takes his audience on a mirthful safari that leads from darkest Africa to Terra Incognita, spinning into time travel.'

Telemundo And Billboard Unite For The Future Musicians Of Puerto Rico

With the goal of helping in the education of students with limited economic resources with aspirations to become musicians, a donation will be given to the Escuela Libre de Música in Hato Rey in Puerto Rico by Don Browne, President of Telemundo, and Lisa Ryan Howard, Publisher of Billboard, at a symbolic event to take place at the school's facilities on Thursday, April 29th.

Hasselhoff and Henner Pay Tribute to GLEE at TV Land Awards

On April 25, the TV Land Awards featured a special tribute to GLEE, which was the recipient of the 'Future Classic Award'. The performance of 'Don't Stop Believin' included a cast of TV Land favorites and was lead by David Hasselhoff and Marilou Henner.

Mercer County Community College Presents ANNIE 4/23-5/2

Mischief, suspense and loads of love are in store when The Yardley Players present 'Annie' at Mercer County Community College's Kelsey Theatre. Dates and show times for this American musical classic are Fridays, April 23 and 30 at 8 p.m.; Saturdays, April 24 and May 1 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.; and Sundays, April 25 and May 2 at 2 p.m. Kelsey Theatre is located on the college's West Windsor campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road.
