Bell, Book and Candle In Time for the Holidays @ the Colony

To be frank, John van Druten's works, which include I Am a Camera and The Voice of the Turtle, as well as Bell, Book and Candle, may be considered dated, because sadly plays are no longer written with such style and wit. And who dotes on love and just being human in the 21st century? There's no time; it's unheard of! The Colony Theatre in Burbank proudly presents van Druten's amusing and cherished play about witchcraft, that may very well have inspired TV's Bewitched, with a delightful cast under Richard Israel's nourishing direction.

Dan Berg and The Gestalt Releases MANIFESTO Album

Manifesto, the debut recording by Dan Berg and the Gestalt, introduces a major new voice to the world of contemporary music, one consciously changing the manner in which modern sounds are created and heard. A native of Philadelphia, the young keyboardist/composer graduated from Hampshire College where he studied under multi-instrumentalist Marty Erhlich. He is now a current resident of Greenpoint, Brooklyn, where he has continued to develop his own unique brand of music. Although his compositions are, at heart, informed by his knowledge and experience as a jazz pianist, they draw from many different sources and styles -- from jazz to rock to classical and world musics. The overall product strikes a smooth balance between groove and art, visceral and cerebral, the popular and the esoteric.

BWW Reviews: Fringe 2010 - WHEN LAST WE FLEW

All you have to say is "Angels in America," and I'm there. Thankfully, When Last We Flew, Harrison David Rivers' riff on Kushner's great epic delivers in pulling the heartstrings of people who feel the same way. Not to mention that it's a perfectly timed precursor to the highly anticipated New York revival that begins performances in just a few weeks.
