Brooke Shields to Direct CHICAGO at Hollywood Bowl; Runs 7/26-28

Brooke Shields has been announced as the director of the Hollywood Bowl's upcoming production of CHICAGO, which holds the record as the third longest running show in Broadway history. Rob Fisher has also been announced as the conductor of the production. Shields starred in CHICAGO both on Broadway and in London's West End and this marks her directing debut. Fisher's association with the show began with the 1996 Broadway revival and he continues to be supervising music director of CHICAGO productions around the globe.

Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn College (BCBC) commemorates Earth Day with its annual National Grid Earth Day Celebration, which will take place today, April 13, 2013 at 3pm. This interactive family event will take place on the plaza outside Brooklyn College's Walt Whitman Theatre immediately following the 2pm presentation of Tales of Anansi, a storytelling concert by the environmental performance group Bash the Trash.

With a new program of innovative and edgy repertoire, Rebeca Tomas will bring her A Palo Seco Flamenco Company back to Theatre 80 Saint Marks May 17 to 19 in a new production, 'Cinco Por Cinco.' Tomas, a fierce and feminine NY-based Flamenco artist, will direct her company of five dancers, two singers and three musicians in a show that promises to be true to her vision of upholding Flamenco's traditions while also pushing its boundaries and giving it a distinctive New York City feel.

Vocalists and a pianist are announced for Lyrics & Lyricists Downtown, the L&L series at 92YTribeca. On Monday, April 15, this one-night-only event features a conversation with Tony Award-nominated lyricist composer and librettist Michael John LaChiusa. As one of today's most innovative, prolific and honored artists, LaChiusa's credits include Giant (which recently garnered a Lucille Lortel Award nomination as "Outstanding Musical,") Queen of the Mist, See What I Wanna See and Marie Christine. Joining him as moderator is five-time Tony Award winner Audra McDonald, who has starred in several of his works and included his songs on her CDs Way Back To Paradise and Happy Songs. The conversation - touching on LaChiusa's significant works and his songwriting process - is punctuated by songs with vocalists Natalie Cortez and Mary Testa and pianist Chris Fenwick.

On Friday, April 19, at 8 p.m. the Young People's Chorus of New York City, conducted by its Artistic Director/Founder Francisco J. Nuñez, will premiere the four newest commissions in its Radio Radiance series in a recording before a live audience in Kaufmann Concert Hall at the 92nd Street Y. This new Radio Radiance music, in which technology and the human voice overlap to make new sounds and great music, will be recorded for later broadcast this spring by WWFM The Classical Network and hosted by YPC's longtime friend and collaborator John Schaefer from WNYC.

Parsons Dance and Gala Chair Linda Stocknoff announce the company's 2013 Annual Spring Gala, Strike up the Band! honoring the Board of Trustees of the Harkness Foundation for Dance: Theodore Bartwink, William Perlmuth, and Etta Brandman, on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at 7pm at the Mandarin Oriental, 80 Columbus Circle at 60th Street, NYC.
