On October 20, 2018, Los Angeles Opera presented Philip Glass's SATYAGRAHA which tells of Mahatma Gandhi's early years in South Africa. After a months-long internal search, the Board of Directors of Florida Repertory Theatre is pleased to announce the selection of founding company member Greg Longenhagen as the organization's new Artistic Director. Greg is currently an Assistant Professor of Theatre at Florida Gulf Coast University and the President, Owner, CEO, and Senior Creative Director of Abbott Productions in Fort Myers. He will assume leadership as Artistic Director and join the theatre's board and staff on October 15.
The Metropolitan Opera presents the North American premiere of Marnie, an original Met commission by composer Nico Muhly and librettist Nicholas Wright, on October 19, 2018, with performances continuing until November 10. Based on Winston Graham's haunting novel, which also inspired the classic Alfred Hitchcock film, Marnie is conducted by Robert Spano in his Met debut and directed by Michael Mayer, who created the staging for the opera's world premiere at English National Opera in 2017. The November 10 matinee will be transmitted live to movie theaters throughout the world as part of the Met's Live in HD series.

Nuffield Southampton Theatres (NST) celebrates their nominations for three awards in the UK Theatre Awards 2018. The world premiere of Howard Brenton's The Shadow Factory, has been nominated for a UK Theatre Award in the Best Design category; Streetcar Named Desire, a co-production with Theatr Clwyd and English Touring Theatre, has been nominated for The Renee Stepham Award for Best Presentation of Touring Theatre; and the NST City opening campaign has been nominated in the Achievement in Marketing and Audience Development category.
The list of nominees has been announced for this year's UK Theatre Awards, the only nationwide awards to honour and celebrate outstanding achievements in theatre throughout England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
