Javier Bardem to Guest on GLEE Next Season

Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Javier Bardem may be the latest star to make a guest appearance on GLEE. According to a report in the Ausiello Files, Bardem will play a Spanish rock star who befriends 'Artie' (played by Kevin McHale). Bardem allegedly pitched the idea to GLEE creator Ryan Murphy while the two were in production for Eat, Pray, Love.

COMEDY CENTRAL will have a presence at San Diego Comic-Con again this year. New York Magazine reports that 'Glee' will no longer see a FOX reality competition in which hopefuls battle it out 'American Idol'-style for a role on the show. Ryan Murphy, creator and executive producer, has decided to keep his attention on writing the second and third seasons of the show, both ordered by FOX this spring. According to the report, FOX did not argue with his decision due to the fact that 'Glee' has confirmed its popularity through two #1 albums, a sold-out concert tour, and a season finale viewed by nearly 11 million.

Despite reports that GLEE could end up hitting the big screen from HollywoodLife, series creator Ryan Murphy claims that no movie is currently in the works. As BroadwayWorld previously reported, all series regulars have signed a contract requiring participation in up to three feature films for 20th Century Fox. The contracts, signed in 2008 before filming began on the pilot episode, state that '[the actor] hereby grants Fox three exclusive, irrevocable options to engage [the actor] in up to, respectively, three feature length motion pictures.'

In an article reporting on the chaos surrounding the Gleeks, with fans and British notables, such as Lilly Allen, alike being denied entrance into their nightspot, the Mirror reveals: 'Poor Lily Allen was ignored outside The Ivy as the photographers battled to get snaps of the Glee cast, including Matthew Morrison, Chris Colfer and Kevin McHale...The only Brit who seemed to have any reason to be gleeful was Leona Lewis, who has landed a cameo role in the next series.

GLEE Finale Attracts 11 Million Viewers

According to Entertainment Weekly and preliminary ratings reports, the season finale of GLEE was seen by nearly 11 million viewers last night on Fox. 'Journey' is the highest-rated season ending episode out of every other freshman show on television this year. Not surprisingly, the show was most watched by adults 18-49, teens, and the general female demographic. The finale was also the highest-rated telecast of GLEE without an American Idol lead-in, as per the network. GLEE has increased 59% in total viewership since its move from its Wednesday time slot last fall.
