Oscar-winning director Alfonso Cuaron's 3D space epic GRAVITY, starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney, tethered $17 million on its opening Friday and is now floating toward $48-50 million for the weekend. The Warner Bros. movie is on track to become the biggest three-day opening ever for both Bullock and Clooney and one of October's highest grossing films.

The Museum of Modern Art honors Dante Ferretti (Italian, b. 1943) with a large-scale multimedia installation comprising a 12-screen labyrinth featuring projected scenes from his work; original set pieces from the films that earned him three Academy Awards; and a six-month retrospective of 22 films featuring the production designer's career-defining work. DANTE FERRETTI: DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION FOR THE CINEMA, on view from today, September 28, 2013 through February 9, 2014, features large-scale, original set pieces recovered from sets designed by Ferretti, including the chandeliers from Pier Paolo Pasolini's SALÓ, or THE 120 DAYS OF SODOM (1977) and the massive, illuminated clock from Martin Scorsese's HUGO (2011), as well as sculptural objects created for the Venice Film Festival.

Anneliese van der Pol to Lead GHOSTLIGHT Reading, 12/2

'That's So Raven' star Anneliese van der Pol has joined the cast of the highly anticipated industry reading of Martin and Realbuto's Ghostlight. Van der Pol will play the central role of Olive Thomas, joining previously announced Tony Award nominee Robert Cuccioli (Jekyll and Hyde), Rachel Bay Jones (Pippin), Jennifer Hope Wills (Wonderful Town), Trevor McQueen (Annie Get Your Gun), and Kimberly Faye Greenberg (One Night With Fanny Brice). The industry reading will take place on December 2nd at the famed New 42nd Street Studios. Ghostlight had a sold out and extended run at the Signature Theatre in 2011 as part of NYMF. The show has been revamped since then. Alison Holman will provide musical direction for the upcoming reading. Matthew Martin and Tim Realbuto wrote the book, music, and lyrics, and will also co-direct, the same duty they performed during the NYMF production.

The Museum will present 39 features. All of the films will be shown in 35mm-many in stunning restorations-except for Red Line 7000, which will be shown in 16mm.

Following Friday's haul of $8.9 million at Friday's box office, with estimates as high as $25 million for Labor Day weekend, the film grossed $17 million as of today. With an $8 million gap separating THIS IS US' actual weekend gross from tomorrow's potential holiday cumulative, it appears as if the ONE DIRECTION guys won't hit the studio's projection. STAR WARS: EPISODE VII Bumped to December 2015?

According to a new report by Badass Digest, Lucasfilm and Disney might be breaking the WARS mold, eyeing a mid-December 2015 release date for J.J. Abrams' upcoming installment in the franchise. All other films in the series have been released in May.
