BIO

Wyn Alyse Thomas (she/her) is a writer, composer, producer, and arts administrator from Chicagoland based in NYC. Her work explores the intersection of social issues and mental health, platforms queer and female representation, and makes the political personal in dramas, comedies, and musicals. She is a nationally recognized playwright and composer with her work published and licensed by Concord Theatricals (“stand. Up. HIT!” and “Write Their Wrongs”) and Next Stage Press (“Commitment Issues: A Musical”). Other credits include First Semester: A Musical (2nd Place: Kennedy Center National Student Playwriting Award, 2nd Place: KCACTF Musical Theatre Award, David Shelton Award, New Georgia Group Grant Winner, Semifinalist: SheATL), Scared (National Semifinalist: American College Theatre Festival, Nuevas Voces Festival, Finalist: ENOUGH!), Prior Engagement (Barter Theatre College Playwrights Festival, Midwest Dramatists Conference), and Don’t Say Gay (Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival). As an administrator, she has worked with ENOUGH! Plays to End Gun Violence, Ojai Playwrights Conference, Alliance Theatre, Ring of Keys, the Blank Theatre, and AATE, and received the John Cauble Emerging Producer/Leader Award. Casting has been announced for week one of The Blank Theatre’s 30th Annual Young Playwrights Festival. Being presented as digital shorts, the first three of 12 winning plays by young playwrights aged 15–19 will be available to stream on Vimeo July 8–14.
