Actor and Director Alex Roe will be taking over the role of Horace Melville in Obie Award winner Metropolitan Playhouse's sell-out premiere of Neith Boyce's THE SEA LADY. Roe is known for his performances at Metropolitan as Jesse James in MISSOURI LEGEND, Richard Dudgeon in THE DEVIL'S DISCIPLE, and Blemie, the dog, in Eugene O'Neill's LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF SILVERDENE EMBLEM O'NEILL.

Since the players of East Lynne Theatre Company in Cape May, NJ cannot perform in front of a live audience at the moment due to a pandemic, they are finding ways to perform on YouTube.

Obie Award winner Metropolitan Playhouse will present a 'screened' reading of Susan Glaspell and George Cram Cook's one-act comedy, SUPPRESSED DESIRES, via live stream video, with special guest J ELLEN GAINOR participating in a post-show talk on Saturday, May 16, 2020 at 8 PM, EST. Susan Glaspell's The Verge, an expressionistic masterpiece of the 1920s, will be performed Oct. 18 -22 in the F. Scott Black Theatre in the Robert and Eleanor Romadka College Center at Community College of Baltimore County Essex, 7201 Rossville Blvd. Part of Performing Arts at CCBC's season of American Masters, the play highlights the work of Susan Glaspell, an American playwright, who won the Pulitzer Prize for drama in 1931 for her play Alison's House, but is best known for her one-act Trifles. 

HISTORY MATTERS/BACK TO THE FUTURE presents an evening of scenes from women's plays of the past, performed by renowned actors April Matthis (Lear; The Sound and the Fury; April Seventh, 1928), Maryann Plunkett (Blue Valentine, The Apple Family Plays) and Jay O. Sanders (Blindspot, The Apple Family Plays) directed by Joan Vail Thorne, founder of History Matters/Back to the Future.

Sanders (Blindspot, The Apple Family Plays) directed by Joan Vail Thorne, founder of History Matters/Back to the Future.

Wagner College Theatre, as part of its New Works Agenda, will present three works-in-progress Trifles, Small Town Story and The Mouth Pieces, at its intimate Stage One space (located behind the Wagner College Football Stadium).

Just because East Lynne Theater Company isn't currently producing weekly shows in Cape May doesn't mean the company is idle. In addition to the presentation of 10 of Ms. Glaspell's plays, audiences are also invited to attend discussions featuring preeminent scholars and speakers from the International Susan Glaspell Society.
