Zeffin Quinn Hollis is uncommonly at ease as both actor and singer. Recent theatrical productions include Candide, Company, The Fantasticks, and Les Misérables. In opera, he headed the cast of the Ward rendition of Miller’s The Crucible (Internationally broadcast to over 40 countries by MezzoTV). This showing, presided over by the composer, won the top award for Best Opera Performance, and was directed by Robert Alföldi, the famed Artistic Director of the Hungarian National Theatre.

Mr. Hollis’ work has spanned coast-to-coast and beyond, including appearances at Dallas Opera, Santa Fe Opera, New York City Opera, Opera Pacific, Opera Theatre of Pittsburg, El Paso Opera, Palm Beach Opera, Opera Delaware, Opera Providence, Long Beach Opera, Toledo Opera, New Orleans Opera Association, Dubai Proms, the Pécs and Szeged National Theaters in Hungary, and the Lviv National Theatre (Ukraine).

Mr. Hollis has breathed life into roles such as the Four Villains in Les Contes d’Hoffman under the baton of Julius Rudel, Eddie Carbone in William Bolcom’s rendition of View from the Bridge, Laurent in the New York premiere of Tobias Picker’s Thérèse Raquin, the title role in Bartók’s Bluebeard’s Castle and Nick Shadow in Stravinsky’s The Rake’s Progress. Some of his most performed roles include Escamillo in Carmen, Marcello in La Bohème, Giorgio Germont in La Traviata, and Jack Rance in La Fanciulla del West.

No stranger to world premieres, Mr. Hollis has taken part in many inaugural productions for composers like Jake Heggie, Thomas Pasatieri, and Tarik O’Regan among others. Zeffin will add another “first” to his list this season as “Kassim” in Tobin Stokes’s Fallujah at Long Beach Opera. Find out more and connect at zeffin.com!
