Theatre Hopkins will open its final production of the season, the area premiere of the Tony award winning musical, 'The Light in the Piazza,' on Friday, June 12, at the Swirnow Theater in the Mattin Center on The Johns Hopkins University's Homewood campus, 3400 N. Charles St. in Baltimore. With a Tony-winning score and lyrics by Adam Guettel and book by Craig Lucas, the production is directed by Todd Pearthree.

Make a Quick Move to 'CHESS'


Chess certainly has a checkered past. When I got the press release that the wonderful Winters Lane Productions headquartered at the cute little space in Building Q (what a location for Avenue Q) at Catonsville Community College would be staging a concert version I immediately circled it on my calendar. And when I noticed Shawn Doyle would be returning to the stage for this version, I anticipated this would be something not to be missed.

Winters Lane Productions is a community based, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to presenting the region's residents and visitors with quality theatrical productions, special events and education programs in order to make the Baltimore Region a more conscious and compassionate community. They will present CHESS in Concert February 6-8, 2009 at the Q Theatre, CCBC Catonsville, 800 South Rolling Road in Maryland.
