Interview: Cat Savage of COMEDIAN RHAPSODY at Davidson Theatre

“I’ve always been a very practical person, and obviously, pursuing a career in comedy is not the practical career in terms of financial security,” Savage said. “My parents were much more supportive than you’d think. They were of the opinion if you don’t try this now, you’re going to regret not trying the rest of your life.”

Rapid Fire Theatre Presents THE PROFESSORS in January and February

The Professors are college professors who 'prove' an absurd hypothesis suggested by the audience over the course of a comedy lecture. Fiercely intelligent, terribly funny, and containing nothing whatsoever in terms of plot. Not since Severn Darden delivered his ponderous, droll lectures in the early 60s have improvisors waded so deeply (or so successfully) into these murky intellectual waters. Using every intellectual weapon at their disposal-sarcasm, outrageous puns, digressive story telling, exceptionally complicated diagrams on the blackboard-these funny, verbally facile performers spoof sloppy thinking, popular culture, and the foibles of academics-and draw sellout crowds. Their secret? They think too much, therefore they are too much. The Professors was the most popular late-night show at Rapid Fire Theatre last season, and we are excited to share this bigger, extended run with Edmonton audiences!

New Sketch Revue to Open at The Public House Theatre

Come As You Aren't playing April 1st- April 29th at The Public House Theatre. The six person ensemble explores the most intimate and awkward situations of daily life that most people would rather keep secret. Tackling the tough subjects such as death, unwanted pregnancies, political tension, sexual assault, and social anxiety, the cast comprised of Chicago veteran comedians weaves in and out of these often treacherous waters by finding light in the daily darkness that threatens to consume them. This refreshing take on sketch comedy poses the question, 'If one could get those deeply desired 'do-overs' of life, would they change the course of history, or leave it to be messed up all over again?'
