Fund for the Arts is offering 15 local arts projects the unique and unparalleled opportunity to double their fundraising through its ArtsMatch crowdfunding program. The program, which kicked off Thursday, March 29, and runs until May 31, 2018, provides the opportunity for cultural groups to increase project fundraising through the ArtsMatch platform, wherein the selected groups can reach new audiences and received dollar-for-dollar matching funds for the amount they raise. Community members are invited to explore www.fundforthearts.org/artsmatch and choose projects to support.

The story of visionary architect Daniel H. Burnham and Chicago's great World's Fair comes to life in Lost and Found Productions' world premiere musical BURNHAM'S DREAM: THE WHITE CITY, with book and lyrics by June Finfer, music and lyrics by Elizabeth Doyle, direction by Erik Wagner, music direction by Paul W. Thompson and choreography by Jessica Texidor. Celebrating the 125th anniversary of the 1893 World's Fair, this lively new musical will play June 1 - July 1, 2018 at Theater Wit, 1229 W. Belmont Ave. in Chicago. Tickets are currently available at www.theaterwit.org, by calling (773) 975-8150, or in person at the Theater Wit Box Office. The press opening is Monday, June 4 at 7 pm.

A Fund for the Arts selections committee has chosen 16 arts-based projects for the second cycle of its ArtsMatch crowdfunding program, which provides an opportunity for cultural providers to more effectively raise project funding.

Transgressive Theatre-Opera to Present A CHEKHOV TRIO

Transgressive Theatre-Opera presents a glimpse into the funny and passionate life and art of one of the world's greatest playwrights with A CHEKHOV TRIO, made up of composer Dominick Argento's The Boor and A Few Words about Chekhov, and the Midwest premiere of Richard Wargo's The Seduction Of A Lady. The Boor is based on Chekhov's play of the same name, A Few Words about Chekhov intertwines Chekhov's love letter to his wife Olga with sections of the journal she wrote after his death, and The Seduction of a Lady takes its text from Neil Simon's play, The Good Doctor, based on Chekhov's short stories. A CHEKHOV TRIO is directed by Aaron Hunt, with music direction by Sarah Jenks and John D. Cockerill, and will play June 10, 11 and 12, 2016 at The Piccolo Theatre at 600 Main Street in Evanston. The performances are Friday, June 10 at 7:30, Saturday, June 11 at 7:30, and Sunday, June 12 at 2:00.

The Chicagoland theater world showed its strength last night, when the musical productions "American Idiot," "Billy Elliot" and "Les Miserables," and plays like "Direct from Death Row the Scottsboro Boys" and "The Glass Protege," took home top honors at the sixth annual BroadwayWorld Chicago Awards Celebration, held from 7-10 pm at The Call nightclub in the Andersonville neighborhood.
