With acting gigs on both coasts and stand-up comedy sets at all points in between, Maya Klausner is a tough woman to pin down. Following a successful run at the North Carolina Comedy Festival and a long string of shows and shoots in LA, she will soon head back to NYC to tread the boards once again in the upcoming iteration of The PennyPan Cabaret at the Nuyorican Poets Cafe in the east village. We snatched a few minutes of her time to talk about comedy, dramedy and swiping right on dating down.

After ten successful shows in Alphabet City's vaunted and venerated Nuyorican Poets Cafe, the grassroots indie-theater experiment entitled The PennyPan Cabaret is turning out to be something of a little show that could! I sat down with principle actor Max Wingert (Pan) to discuss his ongoing involvement with the cabaret as it rolls into the the third month of its residency in the east village.

Following the fantastically warm reception of it's maiden voyage in 2017, 'The PennyPan Cabaret' begins monthly residency at the Nuyorican Poets Cafe in the East Village on Thursday, January 25th. With a slightly revamped and streamlined production, cast members Max Wingert, Ana Cantor n-Viramontes, Amanda Miller, Joseph Sexton, Maya Klausner, Khadija Ansari and Jaime Arciniegas return to the stage for two shows a month to continue delighting audiences while perfecting this new work by writer/musician Valdaniel Martins.
