triangle productions! is proud to open its 29th season with the hit Broadway play, ANN written by Emmy winner/Tony nominated Holland Taylor and starring one of Portland (Oregon's) favorite actresses Margie Boule'.
Last night triangle productions! announced it's 29th season to a packed house. Here's the shows and some of the stars that will be appearing in them:
I'm not that into fashion. In truth, we're barely on speaking terms. So, when I found out that Triangle Productions' first show of the season was FULL GALLOP, a one-woman show about tastemaker and fashion icon Diana Vreeland, I wasn't sure what to expect. On the one hand, I've greatly enjoyed past Triangle shows that profiled intriguing women. On the other hand, could I really sit through two hours of fashion?
triangle productions! is proud to present the Oregon Premiere of this off-Broadway - Obie and Drama Desk Award winning play starring Portland's own treasure, Margie Boule' in the title role of Diana Vreeland - former Vogue editor. The play is written by Mary Louise Wilson and Mark Hampton, directed by Donald Horn (along with the set and sound design) and lighting by Jeff Woods.
triangle productions! begins its 27th season with this Oregon premiere of FULL GALLOP. Returning to our stage is Margie Boule' (known for her incredible portrayal of Tallulah Bankhead in last season's Looped!) who stars as Diana Vreeland, who stood at the center of American style for five decades. As editor of Harper's Bazaar and Vogue magazines, and as a member of the International Cafe Society, she chronicled the extraordinary people and events of her time. Scroll down for a first look at Boule' onstage!

Women have served on U.S. battlefields since our country's beginning. Women were nurses, cooks, and even saboteurs in the American Revolutionary War. In the Civil War, women disguised as men were soldiers. In 1866, Dr. Mary Walker was awarded the Medal of Honor, becoming the first and only woman ever to do so.
Well Arts Institute is partnering with Returning Veterans Project and Wise Counsel and Comfort to present BREAKING RANK, written by female service veterans. The play will explore the experiences of women in the U.S. Armed Forces: some have survived tours of duty in combat zones, some cope with military sexual trauma, all of them share what it was for them to be living and working in a male dominated environment.

LOOPED is funny and sad (and often shocking -- Tallulah had a mouth that would make a sailor blush), and Boule's performance brings out these elements in this well-balanced, well-worth-seeing Triangle production.
I salute any theater that tries to push itself into new creative directions. However, if you're going to do those risky shows, especially those with challenging roles, you need to have the right people to lead the way.
