Malika Petty Biography

Malika Petty grew up on the southside of Chicago attended both Chicago Academy for the Arts and Baldwin Wallace University, receiving a Bachelor Degree of Music. Malika has been seen in three productions of "Hairspray," featuring roles such as Little Inez and one of three Dynomites. She has also been cast in such roles as Paradice in "Brooklyn the Musical," Dorthy in "The Wiz," a cast member in "Hair," and TiMoune in "Once on this Island." Malika is a singer, actor, dancer and fitness trainer. She enjoys singing with her worship team on Sundays, shopping, eating, going to the theatre, exercising, and the occasional nap.

Carnegie Hall hosted a disco attire contest for ticket holders attending The New York Pops season-opening concert, The Music of ABBA, on Friday, October 15, 2010 at 8:00 p.m. with special guest vocal group Rajaton. Participants were invited to embrace the spirit of the decade and to come flaunting their finest leisure suits, bell bottoms, glitter gowns, and other 1970s attire while enjoying the performance of some of ABBA's most popular chart-topping hits including Dancing Queen, Mamma Mia, and Take a Chance on Me. This all-new production of the Tony Award-winning international phenomenon explodes onto the Marriott Theatre stage September 23rd. Direct from Broadway, where it played for over 2,500 performances, the production begins previews September 23rd, opens Wednesday, September 30th at 8 p.m., and runs through December 6th, 2009. Chicagoland favorite and multiple Jeff Award winner Marc Robin (Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, The Full Monty), has been tapped to direct and choreograph.
