San Francisco Opera today announced a cast change for its new production of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Don Giovanni, opening June 4. Soprano Nicole Car will make her San Francisco Opera debut as Donna Elvira, replacing Carmen Giannattasio who has withdrawn from the production.

San Francisco Opera opens its 2022 Summer Season with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Don Giovanni from June 4–July 2 at the War Memorial Opera House. Director Michael Cavanagh's new production is the third and final chapter of San Francisco Opera's multi-year Mozart-Da Ponte Trilogy, presenting all three operatic collaborations by Mozart and poet Lorenzo Da Ponte within the same American house setting at different points over a 300-year span.

Have you watched Los Angeles Opera’s digital short Brown Sounds yet? Brown Sounds celebrates Black history by beginning with the Garden of Eden. Conceived by Raehann Bryce-Davis, a rising star in the LA firmament, it's a stunning vocal piece. Composer Ayanna Witter-Johnson set poet Henry Dumas's evocative verses to music with Bryce-Davis’s ravishing mezzo-soprano in mind.

The schedule includes a week entitled From Page to Stage, featuring operas based on works by some of history’s great writers, and a week of fairy-tale operas entitled Once Upon a Time. The 1987 telecast of Puccini’s Turandot, with Eva Marton, Leona Mitchell, Plácido Domingo, and Paul Plishka, will be streamed for the first time on April 17.

Wagner’s Siegfried is online from San Francisco Opera on March 20 and 21, 2021. Siegfried, a warrior without fear comes of age and prepares for battle in the third opera of Richard Wagner’s Ring Cycle. Tenor Daniel Brenna stars as the Siegfried, the son of Siegmund and Sieglinde who was born to retrieve the almighty ring of power from the dragon.
