Laura Hooper Biography
Laura is an actress, writer, director and producer who has worked internationally in Theatre, Film, TV, Radio and voiceover. Theatrical acting highlights include; playing Sylvie in her one woman show “CRUMBLE”, Gilda in “Design For Living” directed by Tony winning director Jack Hofsiss, Aphrodite in “Cupid & Psyche” at The Barrow Group, The Queen in “The Persians” a tour of Amphitheaters in Cyprus, Olivia in “Twelfth Night” in London parks, originating roles in “Supermarket Shakespeare” in supermarkets across London, Natasha in “Three Sisters” at The Theatre Museum, Covent Garden and devising and performing in a show for Miramax. Laura wrote, produced & starred in her debut film “Cat On The Matt” which has been screened at numerous festivals in NYC. She won Outstanding Director for “Farewell, King Carter” at The Fresh Fruit Festival; directed “Ready Yet To Take” for Mind The Gap Theater; won the NYC SPF for directing “Invisible Glue”, directed a series of improvised radio plays for Geste podcasts and numerous readings including “Spitalfields” for Cutting Hedge Productions.Laura was the spokesperson for United Business Class Polaris and most recently toured North America as the Narrator for the renown composer Max Richter.

LIVE, announced today its lineup of award recipients for 2019.  Select winners include PUSHOUT: THE CRIMINALIZATION OF BLACK GIRLS IN SCHOOLS, directed by Jacoba Atlas for the Audience Favorite Award; AMERICAN WOMAN for Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actress; QT8: THE FIRST EIGHT for Best Director and Best Documentary and a Special Remembrance Award for Robert Forster; JOSIE & JACK picked up Best Screenplay and Best Actor in a Supporting Role for William Fichtner; and Hong Chau has won Best Actress in a Leading Role for her performance in AMERICAN WOMAN.Â

Black Box Acting, Chicago's premier actor training program, today announced a change in ownership. Andrew Cutler, Amanda Fink and Eric Gerard will succeed co-founders and longtime co-owners Audrey Francis and Laura Hooper. Black Box will remain at its current headquarters at 2625 W. North Ave. near Chicago's Logan Square, Wicker Park and West Town neighborhoods. Francis and Hooper will remain active in the organization.

On Monday, September 26, 2016, The New York Innovative Theatre Foundation, the organization who for the past 12 years has been dedicated to celebrating Off-Off-Broadway, announced the 2016 recipients at its annual awards ceremony, The IT Awards. Hosted by a crowd favorite, Jason Kravits and directed by award winning director and sound designer, DeLisa White the ceremony took place from 7pm to 10pm at the Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College.
