Birth Place: United States
An actor by trade, singer by accident, Karen began singing professionally around the turn of the century in Indianapolis, telling herself, "There isn't a lot for actors and it's another vehicle for storytelling.” Over the past 15 years, she has fronted more than one band and performed at venues of every imaginable size throughout Indianapolis and in the farther reaches. She has acted in numerous comedies, dramas, musicals and combinations of all three at theaters in and outside of Indianapolis.
Karen’s first venture in self producing was the festival cult hit A**holes & Aureoles by Eric Pfeffinger in 2009, which won her the Outstanding Female Lead In A Play award at the Midtown International Theatre Festival in New York. She sings jazz, blues and rock and can be heard on a couple of tracks of the tribute album to Indiana blues legend, Yank Rachell.
Karen is currently a voice-over artist and working on booking a national tour of her one-woman show, A Piece of her Heart: a Tribute to Janis. You can find clips of her particular madness on her YouTube channel or more information on the show at APieceOfHerHeart.com.
