Center For Jewish History to Host JAZZUKKAH FOR HANUKKAH! Next Month


On Sunday, December 10th, 2023 at 7:30 the American Society for Jewish Music will present The Jazzukkahh Project, and Eleanor Reissa, the Tony award-winning, director, actress, and author, at the Annual Hanukkah Concert at the Center for Jewish History.

With hundreds of vintage Jewish cookbooks to choose from in the collections of the Center's five partner organizations, we'll serve up a few historic concoctions (Crisco Recipes for the Jewish Housewife, anyone?). Tablet Magazine's Marjorie Ingall joins Phil on November 4 at 7 pm for a tantalizing taste test, along with a mouthwatering conversation about Phil's fabulous food forays, his favorite Jewish meals, and the two key ingredients of his phenomenal show-biz success.

When Joseph Berger was growing up in the Bronx, his mother described Otwock, her hometown in Poland, as an 'enchanted spot graced by tall pine trees, lush lilac bushes and bracing air.' After she died, Joe and his sister went back to Poland to visit their parents' childhood homes for the first time. What they discovered on their 'roots journey' was both emotional and surprising.

On Sunday, January 29, 2017, the Museum of Jewish Heritage - A Living Memorial to the Holocaust joins with the National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene to honor the memory of Nobel Laureate Elie Wiesel, who died on July 2, 2016, by presenting a community reading of his landmark memoir NIGHT, which tells of his experience in German concentration camps with his father during the Holocaust.
