And that concludes another stellar season of Broadway touring shows through Indianapolis. Five exciting, high-energy shows each spent one week in the capital of Indiana, as well as an extended run for a Broadway favorite. Here's a recap of the shows from the 2013/2014 season.
When your audience obliges the orchestra Overture by almost reflexively snapping along to the theme song of its 1960's sitcom predecessor, it's clear that they are acquainted with the classic Addam's Family. The delightfully macabre next door neighbors from the dark side are iconic- patriarch, Gomez Addams (Jesse Sharp), his lovely vampirish wife, Morticia (Keleen Snowgren), their two children- the diabolical, Pugsley (Connor Barth) and his "innocent" torture-loving sister, Wednesday (Jennifer Fogarty). The family tree extends to include portly bald-headed Uncle Fester (Shaun Rice), Frankenstein-like butler, Lurch (Ryan Jacob Wood), and a Grandma (Amanda Bruton) of questionable lineage. The characters look their parts, with spot-on costuming by Phelim McDermott, but that's largely where the similarities end.
Broadway in Indianapolis and Sun King Brewery announce the creation of 'Cara Mia,' a Sun King seasonal beer, in conjunction with the arrival of THE ADDAMS FAMILY in Indianapolis! The kegs will be tapped on April 23 at The Glossbrenner Mansion (3202 N Meridian) from 6-8 pm and will include guided tours and a performance by the production's own Jennifer Fogarty (Wednesday Addams). It's no great work of art, but it's a lot of fun, and it's a great way to exercise those snapping fingers. 'The Addams Family' musical has gone through a lot of changes since its successful Broadway run, most of them made for the better. Although you can't get more talent than the original cast's Bebe Neuwerth and Nathan Lane, the current second national tour perfectly brings to life, or death, the quirky characters and story.
From September 19th - October 6th , Patrick Dorow Productions will be producing Nunsense A-Men, their second musical production with the Players' Ring, featuring Bill Humphreys, Scottie McLaughlin, Kirk Simpson, Patrick Dorow and Josh Moore as the Sisters of Hoboken. The collaborative relationship between Patrick Dorow Productions (PDP) and the Players' Ring has been very valuable to PDP and they look forward to co-producing future projects.
