This Easter, on Sunday 8 April 2023, Cape Town Opera brings Rossini's Stabat Mater to the beautiful Toringkerk in Paarl.

Glamour is undeniably a salient feature of opera: soaring voices, gleaming costumes, arresting stage sets. This form of the performing arts is a handsome amalgam of theatre, song, and music.

SAMSON, the South African theatrical work produced by Third World Bunfight, is one of 6 winners of the prestigious World Music Theatre NOW! competition. SAMSON was written, directed and designed by Brett Bailey, with music and musical direction by Shane Cooper, and choreography by Elvis Sibeko.

The Playhouse Company presents Cape Town City Ballet Back On Stage from the 27th to the 28th of March 2021 in the Playhouse Opera Theatre.

Cape Town City Ballet in collaboration with the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra (CPO) under the baton of Brandon Phillips, is proud to returnto Artscape for three performances only. Due to social distancing requirements, limited seats will be available.

From 8 to 10 March, Third World Bunfight will present four performances of Samson at Rhenish in Stellenbosch. It is written, designed and directed by Brett Bailey and created with the support of The National Lotteries Commission (NLC) and the Institut Francais, in collaboration with Woordfees and the National Arts Festival. Samson is a sensuous, poetic and thought-provoking dance-music-theatre piece set in a dystopian contemporary context of political extremism, inequality, human displacement and violence.

Bookings open today for The Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra and Cape Town Opera's DUET GALA CONCERT, which takes place on 24 October. South African tenor, Levy Sekgapane, a first prize winner of Placido Domingo's prestigious Operalia 2017 competition, will headline the one-night-only concert at the Artscape Opera House in support of the fundraising efforts of The Duet Endowment Trust.

The Harris Theater for Music and Dance, in association with Lyric Unlimited, has announced the return of Beyond the Aria - the highly acclaimed performance series produced by the Harris Theater which pairs internationally celebrated opera singers of Lyric's mainstage alongside rising stars from The Patrick G. and Shirley W. Ryan Opera Center at Lyric Opera of Chicago.

Lyric Opera of Chicago launches its new season with the 15th annual Stars of Lyric Opera at Millennium Park concert at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion on Friday, Sept. 11, at 7:30 p.m. The free outdoor performance, presented in cooperation with the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, annually attracts capacity crowds of 16,000 to the pavilion, great lawn, and surrounding areas of the park.
