The classic French farce "A Flea in Her Ear" at the Westport Country Playhouse and a nostalgic revival of "The Music Man" at Goodspeed Musicals took top honors at the Monday, June 3rd Connecticut Critics Circle Awards.

n today's world, entertainment is all about personalization, customization, and influence. From television shows that allow you to choose the direction of the plot (e.g., BLACK MIRROR: BANDERSNATCH) to the numerous on demand books, podcasts, and films that are ready whenever the mood strikes, audiences today are used to having choices. But what about the theatre? How often does the gathered crowd have the opportunity to impact the outcome of the story unfolding in front of them? Well, with Connecticut Repertory Theatre's latest production THE MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD, Rupert Holmes' Tony Award winning musical, that happens every performance - making for a wild, wacky, and wonderful experience for everyone.
Connecticut Repertory Theatre (CRT) begins the second half of the 2018-19 season with Rupert Holmes' Tony Award-winning musical, "The Mystery of Edwin Drood." The recent revival of HELLO DOLLY may have just left the Great White Way and, sure, there's a fresh tour starring Broadway legend (and Fort Worth native) Betty Buckley just around the corner…but the production currently on stage in Fort Worth is worth putting on your Sunday clothes for with a dazzling production featuring a terrific cast of characters. But this Dolly's visit is fleeting - the show concludes it two-weekend-only run at Casa Manana on Sunday, September 16th.
Casa Mañana presents Hello, Dolly! as the first show of its 2018-2019 Broadway Season. The show runs September 8-16. Tickets are on sale now.Casa Mañana presents Hello, Dolly! as the first show of its 2018-2019 Broadway Season. The show runs September 8-16. Tickets are on sale now.
Critics are calling San Francisco Playhouse's revival of 'Sunday in the Park With George' a 'masterpiece.' But its director, Bill English, found out firsthand that 'Art isn't easy,' to quote one of the show's lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. In putting it together (with James Lapine's libretto), English knew he had cast 'the perfect Dot' in the award-winning actress Nanci Zoppi.

The national tour of AN AMERICAN IN PARIS at the Eccles Theater is a beautifully crafted work of art that celebrates art in many forms. Dance, music, and visual art play important roles in both the plot and the production of the show itself, which is a unique combination of a ballet, a dramatic play, and a musical.
Delicious dancing, gorgeous design, and great Gershwin songs are a joy but can't mask the musical theatre shortcomings of another film-to-stage transfer in AN AMERICAN IN PARIS.
If you are yearning for quick trip you need only travel to the San Diego Civic Theater where you can immerse yourself in the romantic city of light with AN AMERICAN IN PARIS now playing through Sunday, September 10th.
Christopher Wheeldon's visually stunning production of AN AMERICAN IN PARIS has come dancing into Broadway In Chicago's Oriental Theatre. Wheeldon's complex and extensive choreography is the most striking and entertaining element of this new musical, based upon the classic Gene Kelly film and with a new book by Craig Lucas that weaves together George and Ira Gershwin's lush song catalog. AN AMERICAN IN PARIS enjoyed a successful Broadway run in 2015, and this touring company can certainly keep up with Wheeldon's moves as well as the original ensemble.
There are many musicals with the songs of George and Ira Gershwin intricately woven into them, but few have the grace and elegance of ballet like AN AMERICAN IN PARIS.
An American in Paris, the most-awarded new musical of 2015 and winner of four Tony Awards, will make its Kansas City debut at Starlight Theatre on July 11-16. The national touring production is the fourth show of Starlight's 67th Broadway season and one of three brand-new musicals taking the Starlight stage this summer.

My Broadway review of “An American In Paris, A New Musical,” stated that it was “a visual, dance-driven Broadway story-telling creation that is gorgeous, enchanting, seamless and sophisticated.” Though I won't go raise the banner as high for the touring production, I will say that it is a very, very pleasing and “'S Wonderful” evening of theater.
With the fighting over and the French Tricolour waving high, Paris finds itself beginning to stand straight again after a battering war. Adam Hochberg (Etai Benson) and Jerry Mulligan (McGee Maddox), two former United States soldiers who fought in the war, stake their claim in the City of Lights in 1945, both for varying reasons. Add on top of this a beautiful young dancer who has caught the eyes of more than her dance instructors, and An American in Paris is born.
AN AMERICAN IN PARIS, the most awarded new musical of 2015 and winner of four Tony Awards, will play Cleveland's Playhouse Square for a three-week engagement, June 20 - July 9, 2017.
