Donica Lynn Henderson BIO

Chicago based actor/singer most recently appeared opposite Andre' De Shields in his one man chronicle Confessions Of A P.I.M.P. at Victory Gardens. She's been seen with Chicago Opera Theater in Queenie Pie, ETA Creative Arts Foundation in This Far By Faith (Imani) Runaway Home (Bettyann), & Don't Get Around Much Anymore (Phylis) roles that garnered her both a Black Theatre Alliance Award nomination & a Black Excellence Award nomination. Beginning her career by originating the role of Jennie Jackson in Chicago Theatre Company's inaugural run of Train Is Comin, alongside Broadways own Chester Gregory (Sister Act, Hairspray, Shrek, Dreamgirls) and Melvin Abston (Sister Act, 1st Nat'l Tour Lion King) she's gone on to grace regional stages as well. Goodman Theatre- Ain't Misbehavin (u/s Armelia & Charlane), Crowns (u/s Mother Shaw), Black Nativity c/o Congo Square Theatre Co (Choir Director); Court Theatre- Caroline or Change (Radio 1); Drury Lane Oakbrook- Aida (Nehebka/us Aida-perfomed), Throughly Modern Millie (u/s Muzzy Van Hosmere performed); Hairspray (Dynamite 1); Paramount Theratre Aurora- Hair (Dionne); Marriott Theatre Lincolnshire- Once On This Island (u/s Sour Kangaroo performed); Barn Theatre Michigan- Hair (Abe Lincoln) She also has a featured role in the Season 4 premier episode of Chicago Fire.

'Caroline , or Change' Extends through Oct. 26th

Artistic Director Charles Newell and Executive Director Dawn Helsing announce the addition of new performances dates for the Chicago Premiere production of Caroline, or Change by Tony Award-winner Tony Kushner and Jeanine Tesori, directed by Charles Newell. The production has been extended through Sunday, October 26, 2008, at Court Theatre, 5535 S. Ellis Avenue.
