The winner of the seventh Papatango New Writing Prize was announced today 27 June at this year's host venue, Southwark Playhouse. 

A major revival of Willy Russell's Educating Rita will open the Playhouse's 2015 Spring Season. The production, directed by Artistic Director Gemma Bodinetz, will mark the play's 35th anniversary and will star Leanne Best as Rita and Con O'Neill as Frank. Following a remarkable first year, the Everyman season will begin with Associate Director Nick Bagnall's fresh take on A Midsummer Night's Dream. The second half of the season is marked by two world premieres, both screen to stage adaptations; a never-before seen Arthur Miller screenplay The Hook at the Everyman and the first ever stage adaptation of a Coen Brothers' film will see The Hudsucker Proxy come to life on the Playhouse stage.

It's a sunny day in central London, and your author is spending her day running between interviews and watching the men's semi-finals at Wimbledon on the television. Not so for actor John Gordon Sinclair. He's been in a rehearsal room for most of the week, and previewing The Ladykillers in the evening.

Casting has today been announced for Graham Linehan's award-winning comic adaptation of The Ladykillers, which returns to the West End from 29 June. The new cast will include Ralf Little (The Royle Family), Simon Day (The Fast Show), Angela Thorne (To the Manor Born) and Olivier Award winning actors John Gordon Sinclair (She Loves Me and classic film Gregory's Girl) and Con O'Neill (Blood Brothers and Telstar). Chris McCalphy will reprise his role as One Round following the show's recent UK tour.

Following the huge success of the Papatango New Writing Festival 2011 in partnership with the Finborough Theatre which saw unprecedented press acclaim for the sell-out production of the winning play, Dawn King's Foxfinder, the partnership between Papatango and one of London's leading new writing venues, the multi-award-winning Finborough Theatre, continues...??This year's competition saw 700 entries from all over the world.

Having read through all 700 entries, Papatango Theatre Company has announced the long list for this year's Papatango New Writing Competition in association with the Finborough Theatre. The standard of this year's entries was extremely high and cutting it down to just 26 was a very hard but rewarding task. This year's selection represents a truly eclectic mix with playwrights from all over the UK as well as successful international entrants from Ireland, the United States and New Zealand. Papatango thanks everybody who entered and congratulates the 26 playwrights that have made the longlist.
