The 17th annual Tribeca Film Festival, presented by AT&T, today announced its lineup of 55 diverse and engaging short films in competition, including 29 world premieres. The selected shorts include a cross-section of international and U.S. filmmakers and were curated from a record 4,754 submissions. For the second year running, 40% of the selections are directed by female filmmakers. The short films will be presented in 10 distinct competition programs, which consist of five narrative, three documentary, one animation, and one hybrid program. The program will also include special screenings and the 12th annual Tribeca/ESPN Sports Film Festival, sponsored by Mohegan Sun. The Shorts Film program, sponsored by Nutella®, runs throughout the Festival, April 18-29.

Los Angeles LGBT Center has announced that as part of the 2017 Hollywood Fringe Festival the Lily Tomlin/Jane Wagner Cultural Arts Center will present Blackbird by David Harrower.

With the four characters' relationships peeling open like layers of an onion, the last half explodes with the actors' intensity and their quite evident acting talents. Both Burt Grinstead and  Charlotte Gulezian seamlessly inhabit their roles as the past lovers.

Crown City Theatre Company is proud to announce the opening of 'Best Wishes,' a play by Bill Barker being done for the first time in Los Angeles since it's amazing run in 1984. Bill Barker's heartfelt, comedic and personal play about a large family get-together in the rural town of Liberal, Kansas touches every audience member in a different way. There are so many strong characters that remind us of ourselves (or our siblings) that one can't help, but laugh along or get involved in their lives. This is the story of one of the largest families in Kansas coming together to pay their last respects to their mother. They are also paying their respects to the house they all grew up in and for some of them the small town that they know they will never visit again.
