'A Night We'll Never Forget!' Theatre 29 Brings The Hauntingly Humorous CARRIE To The Stage In Time For Halloween

With Halloween just around the corner, Theatre 29's presents the camp, cult classic musical Carrie. based on the Stephen King novel and the 1976 Brian DePalma film as well as various theatrical incarnations. Production Notes State: "Director Charles Harvey revels in the almost surrealistic edge and humor of this piece which enthrallingly envelops this unique theatrical experience. This is a "Carrie" with an emphasis is on very real human interaction and emotions -especially as reflected in the themes of peer pressure, isolation, conformity, and the anguish of being an outsider."

"Harvey guides his young, talented ensemble through a production of Carrie that flows breezily from one song to the next. The more sensationalistic aspects such as psychic powers and telekinesis are on effectively on display here, but they do not dominate the production."

The score by Michael Gore (music) and Dean Pitchford (lyrics) includes "In", "A Night We'll Never Forget" and "The World According to Chris". The intimate Theatre 29 space sets the action in a large gymnasium -type school space that flows into the White home at the Theater's unique extension stage area.

"CARRIE, THE MUSICAL" will play Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:00PM with Sunday matinees at 2:30PM through October 28th. Theatre 29 is at 73637 Sullivan Road in the City of Twentynine Palms.
