Author, singer, songwriter, musician and story teller par excellence are a few of the terms that describe Freddy Dixon’s 40-year career in show business. His high energy shows are always entertaining, his Johnny Cash tribute is brilliant and his popular book “Country And People I’ve Met” is an absolute hoot! Despite many offers to tour in support of his records, or on packaged shows with other artists, Freddy has steadfastly insisted on staying close to his roots in the Ottawa Valley.
Rockabilly recording artist Hughie Scott is another show business enigma. In the late 50s and early 60s, he toured extensively throughout the United States and Canada, performing on concert stages and in clubs and promoting his records. He eventually settled in the Ottawa Valley, where for decades his exciting brand of “rockin’ country” music filled the most popular watering holes on both sides of the Quebec/Ontario border, for months on end.
“Rockabilly Fever” is a rare opportunity to accompany two wild and crazy guys, as they take you on a memorable ride back to when rock was young. Back then the words were simple, the sound was raw and no one needed a computer to fix the vocals. Like boxers facing off against each other, Freddy and Hughie stand toe to toe at their microphones, guitars blazing, while their backup band fills the room with hot, rock’n’roll energy. Carl Perkins, Gene Vincent, Eddie Cochran and Johnny Cash will be there too, if only in spirit. If you love 50s rock’n’roll, this show is for you.
