To celebrate World Theatre Day, SWS Performance and GCTC will be broadcasting Behaviour for free at behaviourplay.ca. The broadcast features a three-camera live-switched stream direct from GCTC's main stage. After two weeks of critical acclaim and packed houses at the GCTC, SWS Performance partners with Howlround Digital Theatre Commons, Fixt Point and Plank to livestream the March 27th performance of Darrah Teitel's Behaviour.

Behaviour explores abuses of power hidden just below the surface of everyday life. The play follows Mara, a new mom and Parliament Hill staffer, as her life spins into chaos while her boss, , and husband attempt to manipulate her. Rich with humour, Behaviour examines how we navigate trauma and uses dramatic shifts in staging to explore a new feminist aesthetic proposed by the playwright.

Along with the free livestream, behaviourplay.ca houses a compendium of nation-wide organizations and resources related to the content of the show and an "Ideas" section that features artistic and thematic writing from cast and creative team. "As a digitally-engaged performance company we are constantly looking for new ways to broaden access to the theatre," says Michael Wheeler, director of Behaviour and Artistic Director at SpiderWebShow. "We have the opportunity to bring this play live to audiences everywhere."

This free livestream on World Theatre Day offers increased accessibility to make and watch theatre, celebrates innovative stories and storytelling like Darrah Teitel's Behaviour, and participates in the future of live performance in the internet age.

Performances begin at 8:00 p.m. Tuesday-Friday. Saturday performances take place at 4:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Sunday matinee performances begin at 2:00 p.m. Pay-what-you-decide performance on Sunday, March 17 at 2:00 p.m. and a post-performance talkback will take place on the main stage on Thursday, March 21.

GCTC is celebrating its 44th season in 2018-19. We continue to foster, produce and promote excellent theatre that provokes examination of Canadian life and our place in the world. Now in the last year of a 3-year strategic plan, GCTC aims to increase the diversity on it stages, diversify its audiences and deepen their experience. GCTC also continues to embrace artistic risk and to ensure a wide range of theatrical experiences.

SpiderWebShow Performance (SWS) is the first and only nationally-driven digital performing arts organization of its kind in Canada. Since its inception in 2013, SWS was established as an organization with skills to distil, synthesize, and analyze the social interaction embedded at the intersection of live performance and the digital realm. In 2013, SWS sprouted from a dramaturgical urgency: a wish to capture, and possibly define, the current state of Canadian theatre. We started with an urgent wish to capture that state - only to discover that these states are changing. SWS believes that digital tools help creators work across distance, reduce carbon emissions and close geographic gaps. Resultant from the very real conditions born of climate change, equity and inclusion, SWS understands the urgent need for traditional theatre practitioners to find relevance and explore creative possibilities. We believe that recognizing and experimenting with a new set of digital tools can support this need.
