The 2nd Annual Florida Festival Of New Musicals Shines At The Winter Park Playhouse ImageThe 2nd Annual Florida Festival of New Musicals at The Winter Park Playhouse continues exceed expectations as it grows its audience statewide and broadens its appeal to writers from all over the world.

The Festival which was just held August 23 through 26 of this year, showcased six brand new never-before-produced musicals. A one-hour version of each musical was fully read and sung concert-style, without staging, by casts of outstanding professional actors and musicians.

This international festival continues to be the only one in the state of Florida. It was created to advance and elevate the musical theatre genre by fostering the development of new musicals and the artistic growth of writers and composers.

The striking news is that the attendance at The Festival Of New Musicals jumped 20% this year over last year's inaugural numbers. The Festival this year had a record attendance of 1156 people over a four day period. Lines to see the new musical works began Thursday afternoon and held steady all the way through Sunday evening.

" Thank you ... for the magical 4 day Festival ..... loved the plays you selected and the wonderful artists who provided the heart and soul." Roger and Jean Blauvelt, Maitland, FL.

Patrons weren't the only ones pleased with the Festival. The international collection of writers and producers were thrilled with the Festival's attendance and structure.

"It was so great meeting ... everyone ... at The Winter Park Playhouse. It was wonderful to see such an engaged and enthusiastic audience. We had a terrific time - .... really enjoyed seeing all the shows at The Festival ..." - Sharon Weiss, Producer, New York, NY

"Thank you all so much for your great work! It was a joy meeting all of you, and watching you bring our show to life." - Clare Cooper, How To Marry A Divorced Man, New York, NY

"It was our privilege to participate and Victor and I remain eternally grateful for the opportunity. We wish you all the very best for the Playhouse's future ventures. All success to you ...." - Kevin Purcell and Victor Kazan, Stranger From Seville, Melbourne, Australia

The Festival is a springboard for new musical works to be seen and possibly produced in the future. The writing team for Stranger From Seville actually left The Florida Festival of New Musicals to fly to New York City for a Broadway Backers Audition this week.

With the positive audience response and success for writers and producers alike, The Florida Festival of New Musicals looks forward to a bright future!
