By:

Due to popular demand, Garden Theatre has added two extra evening performances of The Hunchback of Notre Dame on Wednesday, May 16 and Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at 8:00 p.m. Tickets for the added performances go on sale Thursday, May 3 at 12:00 p.m. and may be purchased through the Box Office at 407-877-4736 or online at gardentheatre.org. Directed and choreographed by Rob Winn Anderson, all performances continue through Sunday, May 27, 2018.

"The intimacy of the Garden Theatre continues to be a particularly strong draw for Central Florida audiences," said Rob Winn Anderson, Artistic Director. "Patrons responded with such passion to our opening weekend that we added two performances to The Hunchback of Notre Dame schedule."

The success of the current production of The Hunchback of Notre Dame can be attributed in part to the cast assembled. Matt Rothenberg leads the cast as Quasimodo. Last seen at the Garden as Apostle Peter in Jesus Christ Superstar, Rothenberg recently performed in Madagascar: A Musical Adventure for the Orlando Repertory Theatre.

The kind-hearted gypsy woman Esmeralda is played by Adia J. Seckel with Benjamin Ludwig as Captain Phoebus De Martin. Both actors are making their Garden Theatre debut. E. Mani Cadet joins the cast as Dom Claude Frollo. Cadet has previously appeared at the Lyric Opera of Chicago, New York City Opera, Florida Grand Opera, Orlando Shakespeare Theater, Bob Carr Center for Performing Arts, Mad Cow Theatre, as well as multiple Broadway and Off-Broadway tours.

Rounding out the cast of revelers, gargoyles, and gypsies are Esteban Vilchez, Bradley Mack, Michael Cleary, Marissa Volpe, Christopher Loyd, Darryl Pickett, Marla Gideos, Ben Lamoureux, Tamir Navarro, Christina Disla, and Amanda Decker.

The production team includes music direction by Chris Endsley, set design by Joe Klug, costume design by A.J. Garcia, lighting design by Erin Miner, puppet / prosthetic design by Tom Blasco, sound design by Anthony Narciso, properties design by C. J. Sikorski, and wig design by Megan Szloboda. The stage manager is Christine Kindred.

Proudly presented by Florida Hospital, The Hunchback of Notre Dame is based on Victor Hugo's classic tale of hope, love, and passion with a book by Peter Parnell and music by composer Alan Menken (Newsies) and lyricist Stephen Schwartz (Wicked). The performance schedule is select Mondays and Wednesdays at 8:00 p.m., plus Thursday at 8:00 p.m., Friday at 8:00 p.m., Saturday at 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., and Sunday at 2:00 p.m.

Additional support provided by Dr. Phillips Charities, Toole's Ace Hardware, and Nth Degree Design & Visual Fx. This project is funded in part by Orange County Government through the Arts and Cultural Affairs Program. This project is sponsored in part by the Department of State, the division of Cultural Affairs, the Florida Council of Arts and Culture and the State of Florida. This project is funded in part by United Arts of Central Florida, home of OrlandoAtPlay.com and UAArtsEd.com.

The Hunchback of Notre Dame is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI, www.MTIShows.com.
