Mad Cow Theatre is delighted to announce the cast and creative team for the compelling drama My Name Is Asher Lev, by Aaron Posner, based on the renowned novel by Chaim Potok. My Name Is Asher Lev will open Nov. 6, 2015 in the Zehngebot-Stonerock Theatre as the second production of Mad Cow Theatre's Season 19
A powerful adaptation of Chaim Potok's critically acclaimed novel, My Name Is Asher Lev chronicles a young painting prodigy growing up in a Hasidic community. Set in post-WWII Brooklyn, young Asher's story unfolds against a backdrop of tradition and faith. When his art comes into conflict with his religious identity, Asher must choose between family and purpose. A story of growth and perseverance, Aaron Posner's adaptation of this modern classic is a touching examination of the artist's journey.
The cast of My Name Is Asher Lev features Brian Brightman* (Dinner With Friends, The Philadelphia Story) as the Man, and Mad Cow newcomers Sara Oliva* as the Woman and Michael Frishman* as Asher Lev.
Director Mark Edward Smith (James Joyce's The Dead, The History Boys) continues his long association with Mad Cow Theatre with his staging of My Name Is Asher Lev. Scenic design is by Rob Wolin, lighting design is by Eric Haugen, costume design is by Charlie Nebe, and props are by Lisa Buck.
