Mad Cow Announces The Cast and Creatives of THE ROYAL FAMILY

By:

Mad Cow Theatre is thrilled to announce the cast and creative team of George S. Kaufman & Edna Ferber's classic comedy, The Royal Family which will take the Harriett stage Sept. 21- Oct. 14, 2018 as the first production of Mad Cow Theatre's Season 22.

The Royal Family is a comedic valentine to the theatre where we meet the Cavendishes, the first family of the American stage. These lovable characters sword-fight, swoon and act their way through their daily lives - proving the old axiom that the show, and the family, must go on. This 1927 comedy is fast-paced, howlingly funny, and full of larger-than-life eccentrics.

"There's no business like show business and The Royal Family steps into the spotlight with fun, laughs and a zany company of actors." says Mitzi Maxwell, Mad Cow Theatre's executive director. "Come to Mad Cow and be entertained as this flamboyant theatrical family copes with the dumbfounding fact that one of them wishes to marry someone outside of show business."

At Mad Cow, Rebecca Fisher * (The Chairs) will play the role of Broadway star, Julie Cavendish. Legendary star, Fanny Cavendish is played by Kate Young* (Painting Churches) and Laura Mansoori (It Was a Very Good Yule), plays an upcoming ingénue, Gwen. Michael St. John* plays swash buckling Anthony Cavendish, Fanny's son in his Mad Cow debut.

Stephen Lima, (A View From the Bridge, Enchanted April) will play Gilbert, a millionaire industrialist. Kitty and Herbert Dean, two married thespians are played by Marylin McGinnis (Pygmalion) and Brian Chambers (Animal Crackers, Sunday in the Park with George.). Kate Thomas-Denson (The Tale of the Allergist's Wife) is in the ensemble along with John Pelkey, J. Anthony Pyatt, and Zack Roundy who round out the cast in their Mad Cow debuts.

Director Tony Simotes** (The Little Foxes, A View From The Bridge) returns to Mad Cow and is joined by scenic designer Robert F. Wolin*** (The Little Foxes, Fun Home), lighting designer Eric Craft (The Little Foxes, Fun Home), sound designer Gabriella Petro (Buyer & Cellar) and costume designer Mollie LaTorre (Fun Home).

The Royal Family runs September 21 - October 14, 2018 in the Harriett at Mad Cow Theatre 54 W. Church Street (second floor) in downtown Orlando. (Click here for directions.) Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays and at 2:30 p.m. Sundays, with additional performances Saturday September 29 at 2:30 p.m. and October 1 and 8 at 7:30 p.m.
