Mad Cow Theatre is excited to offer an innovative workshop, She Speaks, to empower girls and young women and to give them the confidence to stand up for themselves.
To be led by three theatre professionals and aimed at teenage girls in seventh through twelfth grades, the set of workshops will use theatre techniques to allow participants to make their voices heard. The afternoon will focus on physical, vocal and emotional awareness that will help them to command attention and respect in stressful situations. "Our culture asks a lot from girls today," said executive director Mitzi Maxwell. "This workshop supports young women by giving them important tools to use for their safety and well-being when stressful situations arise." She Speaks will take place from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 24 at Mad Cow Theatre, 54 W. Church St. in downtown Orlando. Included in the workshop will be:Cost is $30 per participant, with group rates available to youth organizations. Participation is limited to a maximum of 75.
