Mad Cow Theatre presents Collected Stories by Donald Margulies in The Black Box at Mad Cow's new home at 54 West Church Street.
This acclaimed drama by Pulitzer Prize winner Donald Margulies chronicles the relationship between two female writers - a celebrated New York author and her young protégé. As their fascinating story evolves and the line between fact and fiction blurs, the twists and turns of this complex relationship weave a play that's as smart and witty as it is powerful. Ensconced in her Greenwich Village apartment, acclaimed writer and professor Ruth Steiner decides to take on Lisa, a 26-year-old graduate student, as her assistant. Over the course of six years, Ruth and Lisa's relationship evolves and a friendship blossoms as the prickly, temperamental author shepherds her star-struck student toward her first success in the publishing world. But when Lisa's new book exposes intimate details of Ruth's life, and her fame threatens to overshadow her teacher, the mentor-mentee relationship is turned on its head.Mad Cow Theatre is a 501 c 3 arts organization funded by in part by the State of Florida, Department of State, Division of Cultural Affairs and the Florida Council on Arts and Culture, United Arts of Central Florida, The Downtown Development Board, The Florida Theatrical Association, Orange County Arts & Cultural Affairs and members of the Central Florida community just like you.
