DISENCHANTED! Returns to Orlando

The Abbey announces the return of the Orlando Fringe Festival hit musical DISENCHANTED!, featuring the original fairytale princesses who are none too happy with the exploitation they've suffered in today's films, books and dolls. The musical will be presented at The Abbey in downtown Orlando September 19 through October 27, 2013.

DISENCHANTED! started at the Orlando International Fringe Theatre Festival in 2011. The show played to sold out houses and standing ovations at the Fringe Festival, and was extended as the Patron's Pick award winner. The highest selling show of the 2011 Fringe, and second highest in the 20-year history of the Festival, DISENCHANTED! also took home the Producers' Choice Award and seven additional "Best Of" awards from local media outlets.

Since the Fringe Festival, DISENCHANTED! has enjoyed sold out runs in Orlando once again, Sarasota, Syracuse, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Columbia, MO and Walnut Creek, CA. It currently is contracted for a limited run in Minneapolis, MN before it sets its eyes on Off-Broadway in New York.

DISENCHANTED! is the story of six bold women who refuse to be damsels in distress any longer. Snow White and her angry band of storybook friends are 'storming the castle' in order to take their lives back, with Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Belle, Hua Mulan, The Little Mermaid, Pocahontas and more all brought to life, singing the truth about the "once-upon-a-time girls."

DISENCHANTED! will star Orlando favorites Michelle Knight as Snow White and Lulu Picart as Hua Mulan. Knight and Picart return to the cast of DISENCHANTED! following rave audience and critic reviews at the Fringe Festival. DISENCHANTED! is directed by Fiely Matias and features music, book and lyrics by DENNIS T. GIACINO. Matias and Giacino, award-winning Orlando natives, have enjoyed great success with DISENCHANTED! throughout the United States, and are excited to bring the show "home" before its Off-Broadway debut.
