This rollicking musical has all the requisites of a great children's tale: a resourceful orphan's escape from cruelty with the help (and sometimes opposition) of true friends through a perilous voyage to a promised home and refuge.

But this is, after all, a story by Roald Dahl, so we must expect it to be magical. And it is! The friends are huge insects! Their instrument of escape and revenge is a giant peach! Sea gulls fly it out of the ocean's dangers, but a plane cuts the strings and they plummet from the sky!

Delight your children, and the child in you, with an hour of theater performed for the young and young at heart.

This show runs approximately 1 hour & 30 minutes, including one 15-minute intermission.

Athens Theatre Company Presents DRIVING MISS DAISY

FEBRUARY 17-MARCH 12

AUDITIONS: January 22 & 23
The place is the Deep South, the time 1948, just prior to the Civil Rights Movement. Having recently demolished another car, Daisy Werthan, a rich, sharp-tongued Jewish widow of seventy-two, is informed by her son, Boolie, that henceforth she must rely on the services of a chauffeur. The person he hires for the job is a thoughtful, unemployed black man, Hoke, whom Miss Daisy immediately regards with disdain and who, in turn, is not impressed with his employer's patronizing tone and, he believes, her latent prejudice. But, in a series of absorbing scenes spanning twenty-five years, the two, despite their mutual differences, grow ever closer to, and more dependent on, each other, until, eventually, they become almost a couple.
A heart warming story that won a Pulitzer prize! Don't miss it.
This show runs approximately 1 hour & 30 minutes, including one 15-minute intermission.
