In today's society, being a girl isn't always easy and finding a voice seems like a daunting task. Broken Mirror is a "play by and about its cast" and examines the issues that girls face today, such as relationships, body image, family life, and social acceptance.

This ninth annual production of The Rose's Teens ‘N' Theater program runs April 16-19 on the Hitchcock stage at The Rose Theater, 2001 Farnam Street. Broken Mirror is an improvisational theater production exploring teenage girls and the issues they deal with every day. Third-time cast member Kristin Wipfler says, "The purpose of Broken Mirror is to share the struggles, triumphs, thoughts and lives of teenage girls."

The cast talks about issues that affect girls and dramatizes them. The show includes scenes, skits, poems, haikus, songs, and monologues all created and inspired by the girls involved in the show. Every year, the script is different because the girls in the cast have different challenges, thoughts, ideas, and dreams.

In the past, scripts have included the following topics: homework, sex, siblings, depression, shoes, drugs, friends, parents, shopping, cliques, suicide, religion, and more. Parents should be aware that any of these issues may end up in the final script, which will result in some serious moments, some funny moments, and a great deal of insight.

Because of this, Broken Mirror is recommended for audiences ages 13 and older. Girls participating in the show range in age from 13 to 18 years old. This year's cast members are Sarah Almaguer, Alyc Beasley, Jillian Bilyeu, Samee Callahan, Yadira Cardenas, Maycee Carroll, Mackenzie Carroll, Lindsay D'Amour, Kailyn Davis, Maggie Fey, Nora Grabasik, Jaynesha Graves, Tasha Haug, Ciera Hollingsworth, DaNaya Johnson, Dejah Johnson, t: (402) 345-4849f (402) 344-7255
