Unassuming English shoe salesman, Harry Witherspoon, is forced to take the embalmed body of his recently murdered Atlantic City uncle on a vacation to Monte Carlo. Should he succeed in passing Uncle off as alive, Harry Witherspoon stands to inherit $6,000,000. If not, the money goes to the Universal Dog Home of Brooklyn, or else to the gun-toting wife of the casino owner! Called "A delicious, zany throwback " by the New York Post, Lucky Stiff is a classic musical farce, complete with slamming doors, mistaken identities, six million bucks in diamonds, and a corpse in a wheelchair.

"It's the kind of show that we have a good time producing," says Lucky Stiff director Timothy Stewart. "The music is fun, the lyrics are clever and the book is both funny and sweet. I think audiences for this show are going to have a ball."

The Pollard Theatre Company was formed in 1987 as the focal project of the Guthrie Arts & Humanities Council, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Located in the heart of historic downtown Guthrie, Oklahoma, the Pollard produces six major productions a year, with an emphasis on creative story-telling that illuminates the shared human experience. Built around the core of their resident company members, the Pollard additionally utilizes the talents of skilled theatre artists from across the region. Season after season, the Pollard brings shows never before produced in the state while continuing to set the standard for quality theatre in Oklahoma.

The Pollard Theatre is produced by the Guthrie Arts and Humanities Council with assistance provided by the Oklahoma Arts Council and the National Endowment of the Arts. The Pollard Theatre is also a recipient of a marketing grant from the Inasmuch Foundation.

A Territorial Christmas Carol
Student Matinees & Group Sponsorships
December 1, 2, 3, 8 & 9 at 11:00 am
Each year the Pollard Theatre offers five morning matinees of its seasonal classic, A Territorial Christmas Carol specifically for school groups. Several schools in the Central Oklahoma region have made our matinee showings a regular outing for their classes; and for hundreds of students each year, this is their first exposure to the magic of live theatre. Children accustomed to the entertainment media of movies and electronic games find themselves enraptured in the sights, sounds and special effects of a live production. Teachers take the opportunity to integrate both the story and the overall theatrical experience into their History, Literature, Arts and Humanities curriculum - and many groups extend their stay in Guthrie to include a visit to our Territorial Museum.

Would your business or civic organization like to sponsor a group? With the budget cuts to most schools and the economic constraints on many parents, many classes have expressed interest in attending but find that they are unable to do so, even at our reduced ticket price of $10. Your business or organization could make a difference in keeping this theatrical tradition alive! Group sizes range from 20 students to 60 or more. Please contact Michael Edsel in the Box Office for details. 405.282.2800
