Sunset Village is an entrant in the 2018 Broadway Bound Theater Festival, written by Florida playwright Michael Presley Bobbitt.
After the death of her husband of 43 years, Edna moves from the Atlanta suburbs to an infamous central Florida retirement community. Before she can get her bearings, she is unwittingly drawn into the underground drug and sex culture of a senior-citizen never-never land where venereal disease rates are the highest in the country and everyone’s trying to outrun the sunset. This dark comedy explores an ever-growing segment of the population as well as the struggle to find connection and fulfillment when the lives we’ve spent a lifetime building fall apart.
