In 2010 NO TRAVELER debuted as part of Horse Trade Theater Group’s FRIGID New York Festival. The show was then extended as part of FRIGID Hangovers, moved into The Living Theater, was chosen for the summer NYC Mini-Fridge Festival, made it’s Off-Broadway premier at 59E59 St. Theater, returned with glowing international reviews from The Edinburgh and Canadian Fringe Festivals. Chosen for the NYC Strawberry Festival where Performer Penny Pollak was nominated for Best Actress, NO TRAVELER is currently being adapted into a feature film by Director Tony Kaye (American History X, Detachment).

***** 5 stars!!
“Now THIS is Fringe theatre. Written and acted by New York’s wild-eyed, wild-haired Penny Pollak, this dark, edgy one-woman show focuses on a troubled young woman who, in a wine-induced fit of despair, decides to slash her wrists with a straight-razor. No Traveler is indeed a comedy about suicide, filled with macabre humour that Pollak delivers flawlessly. Pollak is also a gifted physical performer who often says more with her body than she does with her mouth, and she was absolutely thrilling to watch. And with a script and story so strong, it’s no wonder No Traveler is being adapted into a feature-length film by acclaimed American History X director Tony Kaye.”
—UPTOWN MAGIZINE

“I want No Traveler to be important.

Mostly I make movies for my daughters.

LAKE OF FIRE and DETACHMENT I made for my daughters.

This one is also for them”

–Tony Kaye

“CHARMING!”
“VULNERABLE!”
-Showbusinessweekly.com

“Pollak flings herself around the tiny stage, eyes gleaming, hair flying. She creates each character totally… a clever piece of theatre by an impressive performer, the kind of show that the Fringe should be about.”

-Kate Copstick THE SCOTSMAN

“A real pleasure to watch, she flits and flings herself around the stage, an anarchic rock chick with intense focus, wild eyes and a wide emotional range. There'd be worse ways to spend eternity than watching this charismatic, confident performer.”

-Edinburgh Three Weeks in Review

"New York’s Penny Pollak, with her intense eyes and wild mane, is a charismatic and very physical performer."

-Winnipeg Free Press

“Penny Pollak twists comedy, monologue and music into a noose of a solo show, in which she plays a woman whose suicide has landed her in limbo, and who tries to convince others not to take the same path.”

-Time out new york

“Ms. Pollak brings a physicality to her roles that make her captivating to watch; she has amazing energy and vulnerability at the same time which coats each one of her characters with a layer of authenticity that reverberated throughout her performance.”

-The Happiest Medium

“Dark and a little creepy, with a streak of gallows humor … in the skilled hands of Penny Pollak it is a pleasure to watch.”

-Stagebuzz.com

"Tony Kaye, famed director of "American History X" and "Detachment," will be directing local NYC screenwriter Penny Pollak's "Abigail," a film that will explore the concept of suicide with a healthy dose of comedy. Inspired by true events and espousing an honest portrayal of the Lower East Side, "Abigail" will contain emotions and situations to which all of us can relate as we struggle to find meaning in life."
