DQT New Play Development Programs at Dramatic Question Theatre

Dramatic Question Theatre's New Play Development Programs are now accepting applications from BIPoC and Female-identifying playwrights looking to develop their solo shows and plays! Applications are due by September 2, 2025.

Through virtual sessions with our acclaimed instructors, playwrights in these programs have the chance to get personalized feedback through our curated classroom approach. All three programs are completely free of charge, as we believe that American theatre should reflect the lived experiences and diversity of our country by including the voices of marginalized communities.

New Play Development Programs for our 2025-26 Season:

American Woman
Led by Raquel Almazan
A solo show development and presentation program that centralizes Female-identifying writers living in the United States.

This program is for playwrights who already have a full draft of a solo show.
Sundays from October 12 - November 30,
from 12-2:30pm EST, via Zoom

Classics in Color
Led by OBIE Award-winner Caridad Svich
A new play development and presentation program that centralizes BIPoC playwrights with early drafts of plays which combine the BIPoC lived experience with narratives from the Global Canon.

This program is for playwrights who already have a full draft of a play that fits this description.
Wednesday, November 5; then, Mondays from November 10 to December 22,
from 6:30pm - 9pm EST, via Zoom.

Playtime
Led by OBIE Award-winner Carmen Rivera
A new play development and presentation program that centralizes Female-identifying or BIPoC playwrights with early drafts of plays.

This program is for playwrights who already have a full draft of a play.
Tuesdays October 21 to December 9,
from 6pm - 9pm EST, via Zoom.
